The IPhone15 May Use USB-C

According to industry sources, the iPhone 15 series may have been confirmed to use USB-C port, but Apple is not ready to change this port, but plans to continue to use the MFi certification on the Lightning port, continue to maintain exclusivity to earn certification fees.

It is revealed that Apple has developed a Lightning&USB Type C Cable interface IC, which will be used in the upcoming iPhone 15 models and MFi certified products this year. However, the person added that the move is likely to make the new phone and peripherals compatible with previous devices and the iPhone, not just to limit the use of MFi devices in the new phone. But the USB-C ports currently being used by Apple don't have mandatory MFi certification, and it's unclear if Apple will make the change for older devices after that.

As is known to all, Apple has been using Lightning interface for a long time, but with the development of charging technology, Apple is gradually replacing this technology. At present, many devices have been transferred to USB Type C Cable interface, such as the MacBook series currently on sale. iPad series, Studio Display, etc.

One of the reasons Apple will fully update to USB-C on the iPhone 15 is that by 2024, all portable electronic devices in the European Union will be unified as Type-C charging ports, while major domestic phone manufacturers have switched to Type-C charging ports and will unify the domestic fast charge standard later.
